Comcast Business (NASDAQ:CMCSA) has completed a $2 million fiber network expansion to Maumelle, AR, a suburb of Little Rock. The network, which spans more than 20 square miles, is intended to offer the area's businesses, schools, hospitals and government organizations access to up to 10 Gbps Internet speeds, and in certain instances, up to 100 Gbps. In addition, Comcast plans to deliver up to 1 Gbps Internet service to residential customers in Maumelle later this year.

"Comcast's investment in Maumelle speaks to this city's impressive commercial and residential growth," said Comcast Regional SVP Doug Guthrie. "Our advanced network will be capable of serving a variety of clients in the healthcare, government, education, retail and hospitality industries with speeds of up to 100 Gbps."

Over the last two years in Little Rock, Comcast has deployed its 100 Gbps network for the business community and residential 1 Gbps Internet service. The company has also added more than 20,000 WiFi hotspots across Little Rock.
