In Connecticut, Centerplan's College & Crown project in New Haven is the first customer in that state to leverage Xfinity Communities' Advanced Communities Network to provide fiber to the unit. The Xfinity Communities business unit is focused on providing Xfinity services to apartment/condo complexes, communities with single-family homes, healthcare facilities and student housing units.
College & Crown is located in an area where New Haven's primary business district and retail corridor meets with Yale University. The property includes 160 apartments ranging from studios to two-bedroom units and also includes 20,000 square feet of retail space and structured parking.
Xfinity's Advanced Communities Network is a fiber-based infrastructure that can be customized for select individual property owners, including the deployment of "move-in-ready" solutions that will support gigabit speeds when DOCSIS 3.1 technology is available. Other available services include Xfinity TV, Internet, X1, and WiFi services for common areas.
In Pennsylvania, Comcast Business' portfolio of business services is now available across CenterPoint Commerce & Trade Park. The deployment includes access to up to 10 Gbps Ethernet services. The 1,800-acre CenterPoint Commerce & Trade Park is situated in Jenkins and Pittston Townships in the center of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre metro area and is home to 38 companies. Approximately 4,500 people work in CenterPoint. Comcast services available in the business park include Ethernet Private Line, Ethernet Virtual Private Line, Ethernet Network Service and Ethernet Dedicated Internet.
In Maryland, the MSO launched the state's first Internet Essentials Learning Zone in Baltimore and kicked off the fifth year its Internet Essentials high-speed Internet adoption program. Since 2011, Internet Essentials has connected more than 500,000 low-income families to the Internet, including more than 12,000 families in Maryland. Comcast also recently doubled the speed of the program's Internet service to up to 10 Mbps downstream. The service also now offers free WiFi routers.
