WinnCompanies and Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) announced a 10-year collaboration to upgrade more than 30 of Winn's multi-family communities located in the greater Boston, Connecticut, Pittsburgh and Washington DC areas with fiber-based technology services. The deal brings the number of Winn properties that have partnered with Comcast to more than 100.
WinnCompanies, the nation's fifth-largest multi-family management company, will leverage Xfinity Communities' Advanced Communities Network (ACN) to provide residents with Internet, WiFi, video and the X1 Entertainment Operating System, and digital phone service. Comcast will also provide a dedicated point of contact for technical support and sales.
In 2014, Comcast's Xfinity Communities unit unveiled a new suite of fiber-based products and services - Advanced Communities Network - tailored specifically for multi-family properties. ACN provides move-in ready gigabit-capable solutions over fiber or coax in existing buildings, greenfields, high-rises or single-family home communities. ACN offers the full portfolio of Xfinity products, including the X1 platform, in-home WiFi, Xfinity Home security and automation and digital voice.
In other Comcast news, the company's business services arm is now providing fiber-based Comcast Business Ethernet services to Host.net, a provider of managed infrastructure services, for its Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale, FL, data centers. Headquartered in Boca Raton, Host.net operates multiple enterprise-class data centers in south Florida, including Palm Beach and Broward Counties, as well as a colocation suite in Atlanta.
