AT&T (NYSE:T) plans to expand its GigaPower fiber network to Greensboro, NC. The telco plans to provide symmetrical broadband speeds up to 1 Gbps, as well as DVR TV services. Specific locations and pricing have not been announced. AT&T is also considering other North Carolina Areas - Apex, Garner, Gastonia, Huntersville, and Morrisville - for the service.
In other AT&T news, the telco is expanding its U-verse triple-play services in San Francisco and Sacramento. The company says it has expanded to 10,400 customer locations in the San Francisco area and 3,200 in Sacramento. The services include U-verse TV, High Speed Internet and Voice. The expansion is part of AT&T's Velocity IP Plan (VIP), a three-year investment plan to expand and enhance AT&T's wireless and wireline IP broadband networks.
