At The Independent Show, ZCorum announced that its remote spectrum analysis app, RF Inspector, now supports Android-based smartphones. RF Inspector is designed to use the ability within newer cable modems and set-top boxes to capture and display the spectrum for video and data channels much like it would appear on a meter, eliminating the need for technicians to drive to a customer’s location to read spectrum data.
ZCorum initially introduced RF Inspector in May with support for Android-based tablets.
The app can is free from the Google Play Store, but has a $9.95 annual subscription fee for each user. In addition, there is a server-side component that communicates with cable modems and controls who has access to view spectrum using the RF Inspector app. ZCorum is making the server-side software available for free to NCTC members.
ZCorum will be demonstrating RF Inspector during The Independent Show along with its proactive network maintenance (PNM) product, PreEqualization Analyzer.
