We deeply regret to report the passing of Glenn Britt, Time Warner Cable's (NYSE:TWC) former chairman and CEO. He passed away this morning at the age of 65 at his home in New York City, of cancer. His wife, Barbara, was by his side. Britt's 41-year cable career started at Time Inc. in 1972. He was named Time Warner Cable CEO in 2001.
"The whole BTR team is deeply saddened to hear of Glenn's passing," said Tim Hermes, BTR's Publisher and Founder. "He was a great leader and true visionary, in many ways one of the chief architects of the modern cable industry. He'll be greatly missed."
Rob Marcus, TWC's current chairman and CEO, wrote in a statement: "Glenn left us with a legacy of innovation, integrity and inclusion. We were guided for many years by his strong belief that a company must be willing to reinvent itself to be successful; his commitment to saying what you mean and doing what you say; and his conviction that a richly diverse workforce - diverse in ethnicity, culture, beliefs, perspectives, experiences and lifestyles - is necessary to best serve our diverse customers and communities. He will long be remembered for his thoughtful and steady leadership through rapidly changing times in the communications field."
