German fiber network provider TELEFUNKEN Communications AG has partnered with Aurora Networks to launch new Internet services to residential and commercial customers in select communities in the Rhineland-Palatinate. Aurora is supplying its Unified PON portfolio, including indoor and outdoor chassis platforms, Node PON technology, ONTs, and the company's AurOS software for DOCSIS provisioning over EPON (DPoE).
TELEFUNKEN Communications started construction earlier this year and activated the first residential customers in early April with up to 150 Mbps Internet services. The operator plans to add telephony, digital TV and interactive on-demand services later. Business customers can sign up for data rates up to 250 Mbps symmetrical.
Aurora will be showcasing its Unified PON portfolio, optical transport and access solutions at ANGA COM in Germany.
