In its first deployment, Rovi's (NASDAQ:ROVI) G-Guide HTML is set to launch on a new set-top box developed by Japanese cable operator Jupiter Telecommunications, better known as J:COM (J:COM, JASDAQ:4817). The new G-Guide, expected to be available Feb. 1, features discovery capabilities such as metadata, search and a browser-based interface. The set-top box can also work with tablets via J:COM's application, "Xvie Remote" that is powered by G-Guide xD.
