VoIP Outage Rules Start Dec. 17

New outage reporting requirements for VoIP services are set to go into effect later this month. On Feb. 21, the FCC released a Report and Order in PS Docket No. 11-82 (VoIP Outage Order) in which the Commission extended the outage reporting requirements of Part 4 of its rules to interconnected VoIP services. The Commission will begin accepting reports of VoIP service outages on Dec. 17.
