Multi-screen transcoding leader Envivio is driving new technology enhancements and enabling operators to consolidate the video headend and IT datacenter with the Envivio Muse software on industry-standard, carrier-grade HP blade servers.

Muse is designed for live or offline video transcoding and distribution to any device, and supports adaptive streaming to Apple iOS devices, Android and 3GPP smartphones, tablets and PCs with Flash or Silverlight, in addition to supporting video delivery to traditional set-top boxes and connected TVs.

At the recent NAB show, Envivio further enhanced the Muse family of products with Muse iTV, designed for broadcast and Internet TV applications. Muse iTV adds support for blackout and time codes, SCTE 35/104 ad insertion and additional features for Apple iOS 5 including multi-language support and time-shifting functionality.

Significantly improving efficiency and operations compared to architectures that call for separate broadcast and multiscreen headends, Muse is available on either HP blade servers or the market-leading Envivio 4Caster 1RU appliances. Service providers running large-scale operations can use Muse to turn the IT datacenter into a powerful video headend with Muse on the HP Blade. Advanced functionalities such as advertisement insertion, content protection for mobile devices, and and a built-in interface to CDNs for Internet TV and Over-the-top or O.T.T. distribution facilitate service monetization and enable rich end-user experiences.
