Atlantic Broadband has increased its residential Internet speeds in Miami Beach and the surrounding areas, including Aventura, Bal Harbour, Bay Harbor Islands, Golden Beach, North Bay Village, Pinecrest, South Miami, Sunny Isles Beach, Surfside, Brickell, Wynwood, the Biscayne corridor and downtown Miami.
The automatic upgrades come at no additional cost to customers and double the downstream speeds of most of the company's Internet tiers. Atlantic Broadband is also launching its Extreme package with 400 Mbps downstream, new to the Miami market. The company's speed tiers in Miami now range from 25 Mbps for the Starter package up to 1 Gbps for the GigaEdge package.
“We are excited to bring this major speed enhancement to market for our customers,” said Elizabeth Michelsen, Atlantic Broadband’s vice president and general manager, Florida. “We continue to invest in technology upgrades so that we can deliver top performance for our customers who need superfast internet speeds to meet their growing household needs.”
The speed increases are based on Atlantic Broadband's DOCSIS 3.1 upgrades in Miami to support gigabit Internet service, which the company launched there last August. That service is based on Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) CMTSs and Technicolor modems. Atlantic Broadband is offering a free three-month upgrade to GigaEdge for new customers for a limited period.
The company announced similar Internet upgrades in Aiken, SC, last month and in its southern Connecticut markets in June.
