Japan
Japanese telecommunications provider KDDI has selected TiVo's (NASDAQ:TIVO) remote recording service for G-Guide and will also implement new voice control features for content discovery.
KDDI has deployed TiVo's latest G-Guide HTML on its Cable Plus Set-Top Boxes as an upgrade to KDDI's existing deployment of the G-Guide HTML for IPTV set-tops last year. KDDI has also adopted TiVo's remote recording service and mobile application, G-Guide xD, allowing subscribers to record programs at any time from their smart phones. The service also includes new voice control features. TiVo says this is the first deployment of the voice control feature for G-Guide HTML in Japan.
UK
Call Flow in the UK has chosen ADTRAN's (NASDAQ:ADTN) XGS-PON solution to support symmetrical multi-gigabit fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services. The broadband operator has already built out up to 100 Mbps FTTC-based services across southern England and, to allow services to scale, has now selected ADTRAN's 10 Gbps FTTH solution. The new architecture is designed to be compatible with Call Flow's existing FTTH network.
Call Flow has built networks across Kent, East Sussex, Hampshire and Berkshire.
India
Indian digital cable TV distribution company GTPL, which reaches an estimated 8 million households in 189 cities, has deployed a software-based unified video headend system from Harmonic (NASDAQ:HLIT). The deployment includes Harmonic's Electra X2 media processor to support MPEG-2, MPEG-4 AVC and HEVC encoding for both traditional cable TV and live OTT multiscreen services.
The deployment also includes Harmonic's ProStream video stream processor, ProView integrated receiver-decoders, ProMedia Package multiscreen stream packager, and NMX network management solution.
