Midco is now offering its Midco Xstream Gig gigabit Internet service in Sioux Falls, SD, and 11 surrounding communities. The service, which debuted in Fargo, ND, in late March, is based on DOCSIS 3.1.

"From a solo entrepreneur in Crooks to a family of five in southern Sioux Falls, Midco Xstream Gig uses our state-of-the-art network to provide super-fast, reliable speeds through a modem," said Midco President and CEO Pat McAdaragh.

Midco's goal for the year is to deploy DOCSIS 3.1 gigabit in 80% of its markets. The service is based on Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) cBR-8 CCAP gear, as well as modems from ARRIS (NASDAQ:ARRS) and Hitron Technologies.

"Midco Business Xstream Gig is a significant investment in the region. Businesses often look to broadband availability when deciding where to expand," said McAdaragh. "Our announcement today shows Midco's commitment to technology and innovation, both of which are major economic drivers in the Sioux Falls region."
