RCN Chicago is expanding its services to the Chicago suburb of Evanston, IL, including gigabit Internet service. Evanston residents will now have access to RCN's full suite of video, voice and data services.

RCN Chicago first launched 1 Gbps Internet service in November. It is now available to Evanston residents for $69.99/month for 12 months.

"With the flexibility and strength of our award-winning data network and our superior customer service, we felt the time was right to bring our TV, phone and internet to Evanston," said Tom McKay, general manager and senior vice president, RCN Chicago. "We worked closely with the city to execute this launch, and residents will now have access to our 1 gigabit internet speeds, competitive prices and new job opportunities."

In addition to Evanston, RCN Chicago serves residents in single homes, apartment high-rises and businesses along the Chicago lakefront and the villages of Skokie and Lincolnwood.

In addition to Chicago, RCN also offers DOCSIS 3.1-based gigabit Internet service in Philadelphia, New York City and Washington DC. The company, along with Grande Communications in Texas, was recently bought by TPG Capital.
