Technetix has released a DOCSIS 3.0 transponder for its DBx access platform series. The transpoder is intended to allow operators to control and monitor all aspects of the DBx RF and optical access platform remotely.
The transponder is a drop-in module designed to upgrade the more than 200,000 DBx amplifiers and fiber nodes in the field as well as being specified on new network construction and upgrades. Using a chipset from Broadcom (NASDAQ:BRCM), the product is also intended to provide an overview of the downstream spectrum of the RF network in a system designed for severe environmental conditions. The transponder is also designed to be compatible with DOCSIS 3.0 in the United States and in Europe.
The product features remote management for configuration of the device, and examination of the spectrum received at the amplifier or fiber node. Integration with TNMS software is intended to enable automatic documentation and monitoring of changes applied to the platform.
