Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC) has completed the rollout of faster Internet speeds to all its customers in the Charlotte, NC, area, including a top tier of downstream speeds up to 300 Mbps. TWC customers with any of the MSO's six Internet plans in its Charlotte service area have access to faster speeds at no additional cost. The company has also activated almost 7,000 WiFi hotspots throughout the city.

The speed upgrades are available throughout the Charlotte area, including Albemarle, Badin, Boiling Springs, Charlotte, Cherryville, Clover (S.C.), Concord, Ellerbe, Gastonia, Harrisburg, Huntersville, Indian Trail, Kannapolis, Kings Mountain, Matthews, Monroe, Mooresville, Rockingham, Salisbury, Shelby, Statesville, Wadesboro, Waxhaw and Weddington.

The faster Internet speeds mark the completion of the TWC Maxx upgrade program in Charlotte, which was begun in April. Other parts of the Maxx program include conversion to all-digital video and network reliability upgrades, including preparation for DOCSIS 3.1 when it becomes available.

The TWC Maxx program was first announced last January, with initial launches in New York City and Los Angeles. It has since expanded to a TWC dozen markets.
