At the NCTC Winter Educational Conference, ZCorum unveiled version 2.0 of its PreEqualization Analyzer. The analyzer is the company's DOCSIS proactive network maintenance (PNM) tool. The new release incorporates a new dashboard summary of modem status and overall health for all CMTSs, enhanced correlation features, and the addition of historical RF levels.
The analyzer uses the pre-equalization data from cable modems to identify and locate impairments in the upstream cable plant. Version 2.0 has an improved correlation algorithm and new features intended to identify subscribers being affected by the same impairment. The new release includes a setting that lets the user control the sensitivity of the correlation algorithm that determines common impairments, and the correlation function now shows modems that are correlated even if they are on different frequencies. Historical CPE data available in the application now includes RF statistics like transmit power, SNR and codeword errors.
