DivX announced the launch of DivX Live, designed to support secure live video streaming up to 4K using HEVC and MPEG-DASH. The new addition to the DivX Certified program for HEVC is intended to enable pay TV operators and OTT services to securely stream live video content to multiple platforms, including web, iOS, Android, smart TVs and other consumer electronics devices.

DivX provides secure players and key management for cross-platform delivery, along with SDKs for live streaming on consumer electronics devices. The DivX secure players and license service use Common Encryption, utilizing DivX Certified secure key management. DivX Live is part of the DivX OmniView solution that includes DivX DRM.

In other DivX news, European CPE manufacturer Siligence has signed a new license agreement to implement DivX HEVC technology in its set-top boxes to support 4K video.

DivX is also in the process of being bought by NeuLion (TSX:NLN). The transaction, valued at approximately $62.5 million, is expected to close in the first quarter of 2015.
