STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM) is previewing a new DOCSIS 3.1 platform in a live demonstration in Las Vegas during CES. The demo is intended to highlight interoperability with infrastructure equipment from other vendors, as well as integration of the RDK-B broadband-enabled software stack.
The demonstrations include RDK-B gateway software, including speed tests with performance data including main-processor loading under various operating conditions, and DOCSIS 3.1 real-time communication over standard coax with a third-party CMTS down-streaming data over a single 96 MHz channel using OFDM modulation with sub-carrier modulated in 4,096-QAM and upstream communication over an 80 MHz channel modulated in 1,024-QAM.
In other STMicro news, the company has integrated Civolution's NexGuard forensic watermarking with ST's UltraHD-4K Cannes and Monaco SoCs to detect unauthorized sharing of digital content and help deter piracy. The integration will be demonstrated at CES.
