Consolidated Communications (NASDAQ:CNSL) is launching a 1 Gbps Internet speed package to all of its Kansas City fiber to the home (FTTH) customers. CCI's fiber Internet packages offer symmetrical services from 18 Mbps to 1 Gbps. The new 1 Gig package is available for $69.95 per month with no construction or installation fees.

In place since 2007, CCI's existing fiber network has long had the capacity to both support gigabit speeds, the company says, but demand wasn't there.
