AT&T (NYSE:T) plans to begin lighting up Dallas, Ft. Worth and surrounding cities with symmetrical Gigabit speeds this summe via its fiber-based U-verse with GigaPower network. In the Dallas area, the initial GigaPower network deployment will launch in Highland Park and University Park with speed capability of up to 1 Gbps.

Other parts of Dallas, Ft. Worth and surrounding cities are expected launch this summer at up to 100 Mbps, and customers are expected to be eligible to upgrade to 1 Gbps by the end of the year. The telco plans to continue lighting up new areas and expanding the GigaPower network across North Texas.

In other AT&T news, the company plans to expand its Digital Life smart home service to cover Michigan City and La Porte, MI. With the expansion, the service will available in 82 markets across the country.
