AT&T (NYSE:T) has signed its sixth Gigabit fiber deal in North Carolina. Town officials of Carrboro ratified an agreement to deploy AT&T U-verse with GigaPower over a fiber network designed for speeds up to 1 Gbps. The telco has made similar deals in the state with Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh and Winston-Salem. The six cities are part of the North Carolina Next Generation Network (NCNGN) initiative, which also includes four universities and a number of local businesses.
