City officials of Durham, NC, have ratified an agreement to deploy AT&T (NYSE:T) U-verse with GigaPower over a fiber network with speeds of up to 1 Gbps. Earlier this week, AT&T announced a similar agreement with Winston-Salem, NC. Both agreements stemmed from a North Carolina Next Generation Network (NCNGN) initiative, which is intended to encourage development of high-speed broadband networks in the state.
