At the Cable Show in Los Angeles, Edgeware will demonstrate the latest additions to its Distributed Video Delivery Network (D-VDN) Solution, including the new Orbit Unified Server Software and an updated version of Convoy Management Software.

Orbit Unified Server Software is intended to let a single set of servers cache and deliver content to both legacy QAM set-tops and also to new IP set-tops connected via the broadband network. The same servers also cache and deliver live and on-demand adaptive bitrate (ABR) content to multiple screens and can record live streams for catch-up TV services.

Convoy Management Software is designed to enable operators to build their own CDN by taking advantage of software defined networking (SDN). The software now provides all control, configuration and monitoring functions for a network of Orbit servers from a private or public cloud. Virtualized resources are shared with other networking applications, and additional capacity can be allocated to CDN control as required.
