Texas-based Grande Communications is launching 1 Gbps Internet service in Austin, TX, beginning Feb. 18. The new speed tier, dubbed Power 1000, is priced at $64.99 a month. The FTTH-based service will be available in parts of the Belmont, Rosedale, Bryker Woods, Pemberton Heights, Tarrytown, Oakmont Heights and Old Enfield neighborhoods in West Austin.

In other Grande news, beginning March 4, the company will begin upgrading speeds for the rest of its Austin residential Internet customers at no additional charge. Customers with Internet service below 15 Mbps will automatically be upgraded to Power 15 Mbps; customers with 30 Mbps will have their speed increased to Power 50 Mbps; and those with 65 Mbps will jump to 75 Mbps.
