At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) is launching its Future TV Anywhere platform, intended to bring web technologies to the TV operator world. The company will highlight its user interface and capabilities. The system is designed to combine the QoS and content depth of pay TV with the interactivity and multiscreen capabilities of over the top (OTT) video.
The end-to-end integrated platform is based entirely on web and cloud technologies. The software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform is intended to let pay TV operators quickly respond to a changing marketplace at scale. In addition, the system uses analytics driven by big data.
Ericsson's Future TV Anywhere vision leverages the acquired assets from Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Mediaroom as well the pending acquisition of Azuki Systems. Ericsson's TV and media portfolio also includes compression and content delivery.
