The SCTE and CableLabs have announced an enhanced relationship designed to use the combined strengths of both organizations to accelerate the worldwide development and deployment of new cable network technologies. The relationship is intended to enable the innovation of CableLabs and the applied science, engineering and training capabilities of SCTE to be brought together in a clearly defined, collaborative way. In addition, it creates a framework to enable parallel development of new technologies and supporting training resources by SCTE and CableLabs, including DOCSIS training and certification that begins this month, as well as educational activities at Cable-Tec Expo.Among the components of the relationship will be alignment on standards and training programs designed to drive workforce readiness as new innovations come to market. Examples of the collaboration between the two organizations include partnerships on such projects as:

  • A DOCSIS Engineering Professional Certification (DEP)

  • A training course designed to address such areas as architecture, DOCSIS layering, DOCSIS network operations and DOCSIS technology enablement in preparation for the DEP certification examination

  • The joint symposium on DOCSIS 3.1 Engineering at Expo 2013
