The 3 Gbps Shared Port Adapter (3G SPA) and SPA interface processor that are part of Cisco's uBR 10012 enable the support of wideband, which offers downstream speeds 24 times that of traditional DOCSIS. Up to eight 3G SPAs are used per uBR 10012, each of which can support 72 downstreams.
The new Performance Routing Engine-5 (PRE5) also quadruples upstream capacity, increasing WAN backhaul from 10 Gbps to 40 Gbps.
