According to ABI Research, worldwide fixed-line broadband subscriptions are growing at a healthy pace in 2013. The research house expects the fiber-optic broadband market share to reach 19% by year-end 2013, up from 16% in 2012.In 1Q 2013, total DSL subscriptions dropped by 3 million. In the same period, fiber-optic adoptions grew from 32.9 million to 37.6 million. However, the research house believes that recent work with vectoring VDSL2 will help DSL remain the dominant platform in the years to come.
