According to a third-party analysis by Allion USA, Comcast's (NASDAQ:CMCSA) Xfinity WiFi public hotspots outperformed AT&T's and Boingo Wireless' hotspots by offering faster download speeds and up to three times faster upload speeds. Allion tested WiFi throughput speeds in Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia, and San Francisco.In other Comcast news, the MSO is celebrating the third year of its Internet Essentials low-cost broadband program. Comcast announced that as of June 2013, nearly 25,750 families in California, including more than 5,150 families in the Sacramento metro area, have signed up for Internet Essentials. Nationwide, more than 150,000 families have enrolled in the program as of January 2013.
