Sumitomo Electric Lightwave has introduced the Quantum Type-Q101-VS V-Groove Fusion Splicer, the third in its Quantum Splicer product line. It's intended for data center, enterprise, FTTx, OEM, and communication network applications.The splicer features patented dual independent heat shrink ovens designed to speed up the splicing operation by eliminating the heat waiting time for consecutive splices. Other features include both touch-screen and keypad interfaces, Internet interface for 24/7 remote maintenance, an SD port for data storage, and the capability of downloading and uploading work related splicing project data, training videos, audio, and software.It's ruggedized for field use and designed for a small footprint and light weight, as well as a 640 x 320 fiber view and long electrode life. It's also compatible with the Lynx2 CustomFit Splice-On Connectors.
