AFL Global has introduced the Fujikura 70R fusion splicer to the North American market. It's ruggedized for field use, comes with a transit with a detachable worktable, and is compatible with the company's FuseConnect line of splice-on connectors. The 70R retains the features of its predecessor, the 60R, and adds several new ones.Features include an automated wind protector and tube heater with a heating time of 40 seconds for a ribbon protection sleeve, electrodes designed to provide 1,500 splices, a 4.7-inch color LCD monitor with 90X fiber magnification, configurable automation, Li-ion battery, and video guides for operation and troubleshooting incorporated into the splicer software.
