AFL has introduced the Fujikura 12S fusion splicer, which measures 4.76 x 6.38 x 2.24 inches. It features a ruggedized chassis, and the work tray can be placed on top of the transit case or used independently, or the splicer can be detached completely.It uses a two camera observation system, Li-ion battery, 4.5-inch LCD monitor, designed electrode life of 3,000 splices, and faster splicing and tube heating than previous models. Software updates are available via the Internet.
