Access Gear Revenue Up Slightly

Dec. 4, 2012
According to the Dell'Oro Group, third quarter revenue for access gear (cable, DSL and PON) including infrastructure equipment and CPE showed 6% growth over the year ago period. Within this total, PON revenue achieved the highest growth at 21%, while cable grew 5%, driven by strong DOCSIS 3.0 CPE sales. Although softening ADSL trends pulled the total DSL market revenue down, VDSL revenues were up more than 30% versus the year ago period, mainly because of demand in western Europe.Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei, and ZTE were the top three vendors in terms of GPON revenue. In the cable arena, Cisco remained the dominant supplier for CMTSs while ARRIS led cable CPE.
