Commscope #3: 2010 Optical Leaders

Being a “green”, passive optical solution, RFoG has many performance and maintenance benefits reducing operating costs. One recognized challenge with RFoG is improving the optical budget to overcome the loss in optical components such as splitters and taps. Especially in a DOCSIS 3.0 application.

CommScope’s solution is the BOS-RX. This low-noise receiver is the most sensitive receiver in the industry. Providing a 15 dBmV dynamic range at a NPR of 30 dB and a EIN of < 1.5 pA/rt Hz (“Pico Amps per root hertz). The BOS-RX allows higher split ratios and longer distances without the need for regenerator nodes, while improving overall system performance. This assures operators DOCSIS 3.0 performance on an RFoG network. Another innovative solution from CommScope.
