Actiontec to manufacture BABA-compliant ONTs Wi-Fi products for the BEAD program

Oct. 25, 2023
The broadband CPE vendor will work with Cambridge Industries Group to help service providers and communities.

Actiontec plans to manufacture Build America Buy America (BABA)-compliant optical network terminals (ONTs) and Wi-Fi 6E/7 products.

The Build America Buy America Act, part of President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, says that when the government provides money for building things like broadband networks and other infrastructure, the materials used to create them should be made in the United States.

As part of the effort, Actiontec will leverage its experience in supplying millions of units to USA ISP and MSO providers with Cambridge Industries Group’s (CIG) heritage of designing and manufacturing CPE globally.

The company is the latest broadband manufacturer to put its stake in the BABA realm. Actiontec joins a host of other prominent broadband equipment manufacturers, including AFL, Calix, Nokia and STL.

“In extending our long-standing partnership with CIG, Actiontec is fully committed to addressing BABA requirements so that our partners and customers building out BEAD-funded networks can offer cost-effective broadband solutions to millions of American families,” Alexander Leibovich, president of Actiontec.
