HUBER+SUHNER is giving rural providers a new weapon to rapidly equip residential customers with Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) with itsRESA Compact Closure (RESA CC) solution.

This modular connectivity solution enables an easy installation alternative for carriers. The RESA CC is smaller and more compact than its cousin, the RESA Splice Closure (RESA SC), which also requires a slightly different rollout method. With RESA CC, the carrier saves time and money, while the homeowner benefits from a fast and flexible fiber connection.

With the RESA Compact Closure (RESA CC) solution, the installation process has been designed to be executed in a two-step approach: homes passed plus and homes connected. The first stage involves the provider pre-installing the RESA CC underground at the property edge. After that, the carrier connects it to the street cabinet using a duct bundle system. In the second stage, the subscriber, with the help of a local installer, connects the last few meters of the FTTH connection within the boundaries of their property.

HUBER+SUHNER said this two-step approach raises the rollout efficiency in two ways.

While traditional civil engineering work is very time-consuming, requiring coordination with each homeowner, the RESA CC enables a provider to deploy a whole street simultaneously. The product can also reduce the cost of the splicing process. Using this product, a provider only needs to splice in one place, at the street cabinet, rather than at each property. These changes will reduce the amount of civil engineering work required and ultimately reduce costs while freeing up time and resources for the carrier.

Andreas Sila, VP for Data Center and Fixed Access Network Market at HUBER+SUHNER said the updated solution responds to requests for a more compact solution. “We have acted on customer feedback to create a new compact solution to provide subscribers with greater speed and flexibility when connecting their homes,” he said. “RESA CC sets a new standard as the go-to FTTH plug-in solution that reduces the time spent coordinating rollouts, eliminates unnecessary digging work, and streamlines the connection process to better satisfy the customer's needs.”
