For its virtual NAB showcase, NAGRA, a Kudelski Group (SIX:KUD.S) company, will be highlighting new developments in anti-piracy strategies and forensic watermarking technologies, and also introducing its active streaming video protection approach.

"In the shifting business and content distribution landscape, content protection alone is no longer enough, making a broader service protection approach necessary," said Ivan Verbesselt, SVP of marketing at NAGRA. "The solutions we are presenting demonstrate how pay TV operators, broadcasters and content owners can protect the entire content value chain with new anti-piracy services and watermarking solutions, and a full toolset of cloud-based technologies to address service and content piracy threats."

NAGRA's active streaming protection approach is designed to go beyond DRM to combat regular and targeted attacks and ensure the protection of the entire streaming service. It includes security solutions, secure playback, secure streaming, analytics, and anti-piracy services and forensic watermarking.

As part of the virtual showcase, NAGRA is introducing two new NexGuard forensic watermarking solutions to its product portfolio for pre-release content. NAGRA NexGuard solutions are intended to let studios and content owners trace any leak back to its source.

The first new solution is technology that allows content owners and post-production houses to detect and source pre-release leaks for short form content. The second is a new plugin for editing software that applies forensic watermarks in editing and collaboration workflows.

In addition to new product announcements, the NexGuard Detection Service, a 24/7 cloud-based service, has new features for improved automation, security and speed.

NexGuard Streaming, watermarking embedded on a session basis on the server side, is intended to fight premium VOD and live sports commercial piracy by quickly identifying the source of a content leak, and thus allowing targeted anti-piracy actions to stop illicit content restreaming. NexGuard Streaming lets rights holders stop video streams in real-time that are either unauthorized or used as a source of piracy.
