Cox Communications says its Panoramic WiFi home networking service has passed 1 million customers in less than 14 months. After a trial in San Diego, Panoramic WiFi rolled out to the rest of the Cox footprint; the whole-home WiFi service has been available nationally for only six months. In one month alone, the company added 185,000 new Panoramic WiFi customers.

Cox says customers who have Panoramic WiFi as part of their Internet package are more satisfied than those who do not. Sixty-six percent of new Cox High Speed Internet customers choose Panoramic WiFi, and those who choose a professional install are more likely to promote or recommend the product than customers who install themselves, Cox says.

"While designing and developing Panoramic WiFi, we listened to our customers and applied that feedback to delivering a premium user experience," said Philip Nutsugah, senior vice president, product development and management. "Our customers want an effortless and predictable WiFi experience that delivers the speed and reliability they expect. They want to have confidence that they are equipped with tools to optimize and manage their home WiFi."
