Japanese service provider KDDI has selected Rovi's (NASDAQ:ROVI) G-Guide HTML to enable entertainment discovery on its new Android TV-based IPTV set-top box. Available this month to KDDI's IPTV subscribers, the new set-top is the first product to use Rovi G-Guide HTML for IP video.

G-Guide HTML is an HTML5-based interactive program guide designed to help viewers find and record TV programs. It features a picture-in-picture TV guide listing grid designed to showcase images, including program and cast photos. The guide is designed to highlight connections and interrelated associations between actors and programs using Rovi's six-degree discovery capability. It also features predictive search based on the first few letters of relevant words in program titles or names of the starring cast.
