Midco has gone live with its Whole-Home Wi-Fi service based on technology from AirTies Wireless Networks that uses an "intelligent mesh" system to improve in-home WiFi coverage. The service is available to residential customers in the Sioux Falls, SD, area as of March 2, with prices starting at $7.95 per month for up to four wireless access points.

Whole Home Wi-Fi from Midco uses a series of wireless access points, manufactured by AirTies, to create a mesh of wireless coverage throughout the home. A Midco technician visits a customer's home to assess the wireless network performance, which includes a heat map showing wireless signal strength throughout the home. The technician then recommends how many wireless access points are needed to extend the signal strength, installs them and creates an updated heat map showing the results.

The deployment, which was first announced in November, is AirTies' first in the United States. Internationally, AirTies has deployed with SKY, Vodafone, SingTel and Swisscom.
