Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) and OSRAM Sylvania have entered into an agreement to offer energy efficient light bulbs that can be controlled remotely from anywhere through the Xfinity Home platform. Sylvania's LED smart light bulbs can be plugged into any standard light bulb socket, and are designed to save up to 83% in energy costs and last up to 17.5 times longer than standard incandescent light bulbs. Comcast says it's the first service provider to offer an integrated remote controlled light bulb.
