VIAVI Solutions Network & Service Companion (NSC-100), 4.0 Diamonds

The Network & Service Companion (a.k.a. the Companion) is a hand-held device for testing network delivery and service performance. The first such instrument to combine a PON test interface (ONT hardware) with Ethernet and WiFi test interfaces, all capable of 1 Gbps and beyond, makes the Companion suitable for a range of networks and applications, says VIAVI. These applications include residential PON/FTTH, HFC and xDSL as well as business Ethernet services and wireless 5G backhaul. With a robust screen-less design for field use, the Companion is operated directly via VIAVI's Mobile Tech app or can be used with other VIAVI test equipment (OneExpert and T-BERD/MTS) to expand their capabilities.

Judge's Comment: "When cable companies want to cross train technicians this means the purchase of multiple test sets for each technician. Keeping them all updated is an expensive process. Vendors who are able to combine these functions into a single device or a smaller number of devices have a competitive and cost advantage when trying to choose which field tools to choose."
