Liberty Global (NASDAQ:LBTYA) announced that effective Sept. 1, Severina Pascu will become CEO of UPC Switzerland. She will succeed Eric Tveter, who will assume the role of chairman of UPC Switzerland and, with the pending sale of UPC Austria, will continue to oversee Liberty Global's Eastern European operations as CEO.

Pascu is a 10-year veteran of Liberty Global, having served as chief financial officer for UPC Romania, CEO of UPC Romania, CEO of Liberty Global's Eastern European platform and currently chief operating officer of UPC Switzerland. She will report jointly to Mike Fries, CEO of Liberty Global, and Tveter and will join the executive leadership team.


DMC, an Egyptian media company with entertainment and sports video channels, is using Interra Systems' BATON file-based QC solution to increase scalability, flexibility and consistency of its QC operations. BATON provides automated video, audio, and closed caption checks.

DMC is using the BATON Media Player, an optional media player with SDI playout capability, for frame-accurate manual review of content. The BATON platform has been integrated with DMC's media asset management (MAM) system for increased operational efficiency.


Taiwan Broadband Communications (TBC) has launched a new over-the-top (OTT) video service called TBC GO powered by Broadpeak's CDN solutions.

TBC has deployed Broadpeak's BkS400 HTTP video cache servers and BkM100 video delivery manager within several points of presence (PoPs). The BkM100 continuously monitors the popularity of content based on usage patterns, letting TBC define a minimum number of viewings for each PoP before the content is cached. TBC is using the BkS400 server to cache content at the edge level.
