Anevia, a provider of OTT and IPTV software solutions, has announced an agreement to acquire French-based video compression software company Keepixo.

Specialising in the development of video compression software for TV operators, Keepixo's solutions are intended to enable live or near-live broadcasts for multiscreen TV. Previously, a strategic partnership between the two technology companies was announced to utilize Keepixo's software and provide operators and broadcasters with a "one-stop shop" delivery solution for UltraHD content in OTT environments.

The acquisition is intended to enable Anevia to offer operators and broadcasters an end-to-end encoding, transcoding, storage, packaging and delivery solution to comply with new quality standards, such as 4K HDR and HEVC, all under one name.

"It's a truly exciting time for Anevia following the acquisition of Keepixo. With the recent addition of CMAF for ultra-low-latency, content-aware encoding and virtualization, Keepixo products are amongst the best solutions for OTT encoding and are a perfect match with Anevia's existing portfolio." said Damien Lucas, CTO and co-founder, Anevia.

"Having worked with Anevia on different projects for over 10 years, the synergy of the companies will open up exciting opportunities for us to create more market-leading solutions, drawing a new roadmap of products for Anevia's future," said Jerome Blanc, COO, Keepixo. "We are very pleased to integrate the new Anevia group and proud to bring in additional competencies."

With the acquisition, Anevia will add Genova OTT encoders to enlarge its product range of OTT delivery software. The recently updated Flamingo headend will also use Keepixo technology for multiscreen video.

"Moving ahead, we're looking forward to bringing both Anevia's and Keepixo's existing customers a comprehensive and competitive end-to-end OTT solution. By adding video compression software to our existing catalog, we're also able to start looking at our next steps, which include the new challenges of live event OTT delivery - such as latency and peak management - as well as just-in-time transcoding for cloud DVR and edge transcoding for next-generation CDNs," said Lucas.

Anevia will be showcasing its new product range, including a demo of ultra-low-latency OTT delivery, at the NAB Show in Las Vegas in April.
