Verimatrix has extended its partnership with Trustonic, a provider of trusted execution environment (TEE) technology, to license its Trusted Application Management (TAM) technology. TAM technology is intended to enhance the security options provided by the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for Internet video, including premium over-the-top (OTT) content.

The Verimatrix TAM serves as a mechanism through which operators can download the Verimatrix ViewRight Web Trusted Application to implement VCAS for Internet TV security as a part of their branded application. Operating independently from device manufacturers, the TAM enables Verimatrix to be flexible and responsive in its approach to DRM without having to wait for software updates to release improvements or provide countermeasures in response to emerging threats.

"The issue with pre-integrated connected devices is that they are not customizable for the operator, leaving them unable to select their preferred DRM solution. If there is a breach in security, they have to wait for a new version of the software from the manufacturer before it can get resolved," said Verimatrix CTO Petr Peterka. "Conversely, having our own TAM uniquely equips Verimatrix with the flexibility needed to respond to operator needs for DRM at any point in time."

Verimatrix provides 24/7 cloud-based support for the TAM service via its Verspective Intelligence Center. Through the globally interconnected infrastructure, pay TV operators can download a variety of Trusted Applications onto the TEE of essentially any connected device.
