According to Digital TV Research, the number of pay TV subscribers in Western Europe increased by 1 million in 2012 to 94.1 million and is expected to climb by another million this year. Losses in pay TV subscriptions in Italy and Spain were offset by gains in Germany and France. The number of pay TV subscribers in the region is expected to top 100 million by 2018.
