Rovi announced that Rovi Entertainment Store, the company's end-to-end, white-label solution for entertainment storefront creation and management, powers the new Video Store movie service on the BlackBerry PlayBook. Video Store is designed to provide access to a catalog of film and TV entertainment, including new releases that will be available for purchase or rent on the same day as they come out on DVD or Blu-ray Disc. Video Store is initially available with BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 in the United States, and is expected to be followed by launches in additional countries later this year.
