Verizon, Redbox Eye Netflix's Lunch

Verizon and Coinstar announced the formation of a joint venture to combine Redbox new release DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals with a new VOD streaming and download service from Verizon. The companies plan to introduce the product portfolio in the second half of 2012. It's expected to offer nationwide subscription services across media and devices and leverage Verizon's cloud computing technologies and IP infrastructure for distribution.
