Vela Research announced the ArgoNavis Universal Decoder, a new entrant into the field of video decoders, designed for the content distribution, ad insertion, local origination, medical imaging and education applications. The system is also intended for mezzanine file playback, digital signage, studio contribution, news distribution and ad insertion, as well as quality control and verification of SDI, VANC and Closed Captioning data integrity.The ArgoNavis Universal Decoder can decode in SD and HD, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 H.264, Apple ProRes and VC1 formats. The system also allows a variety of input and output options, as well as upconversion of SD materials to HD or down-conversion of HD content.
